September Meeting Minutes

Call to order 8:36am

A meeting of The Park Rd Association was held at Playhouse on Park on Sep 18, 2025

Co-Presidents Welcome 

  • Katherine Denton, husband Bill passed away last week, age 61, suddenly. Association will make a donation to a charity as a group.


Town Reports: 

Economic Development – Kristen Gorski / Lauren Siegel 

  • Kristen is at the Big E at the State House. She will send a compiled list of the items from the Park Road walkthrough via email to be shared with membership.

    • Greg or Jason will attend our Nov meeting to discuss Park Rd reno plans

  • Lauren reporting on openings since our last meeting

    • Gold Dumpling 278 Park, feature GF menu offerings

    • Sierra Market 74 Park, Brazilian

    • The Eight Gates, 266A, acupuncture studio

    • Analog Aroman, J Rene space, evening hours

Town Manager - Rick Ledwith

  • Safety update–summer of safety

    • Quick builds concept, through Vision Zero efforts, identify quick projects for implementation on a pilot basis. Changing the culture of safety across town. Curb extensions, pedestrian refuge islands, speed humps, raised crosswalks, etc. Will study the impacts and consider more permanent installations. Adding a rotary on King Philip, two traffic circles planned for neighborhoods. 

    • Speed enforcement camera program, 15 locations identified, once Town Council approves it is submitted for state and federal approval. (Albany, Mountain, Fern, Troutbrook, KP, South and North Main.) October 14th is the Public Hearing. Goal to be live with program by late Spring 2026. Red light camera program forthcoming afterwards. 

    • Last summer 400 MV stops, this August >800 MV stops. Educating the community

Community Development 

  • Churck Corsey, America 250. West Hartford is preparing commemoration events. Invitation to contribute untold stories highlighting all people impacting our history. 

  • Porchfest idea for spring, music and performances

Police Department

  • Officers Rieger and Eden, community relations division

    • Citizens academy next week 9/24, 8 weeks Wed nights 6-9p, free, online application

    • Car seat clinic and touch a truck events upcoming

Chamber of Commerce – Chris Conway

  • Annual Golf Tournament last Tuesday, a successful event, critical fundraising event

  • PM connections, business resource every month, time management program

  • Colorful Conversation, noon today, Hispanic Contributions, virtual panel and recording offered

  • Well attended monthly gatherings

  • Halloween Party, Noah Webster House, 5:30-730p 10/16


River Bend Bookshop

  • Touch a truck Saturday at Whiting Lane

  • Sidewalk Sale Saturday 9/20


Park Road Committees

  • Beautification committee forming to meet in October
