December Meeting Minutes

A meeting of The Park Rd Association was held at Playhouse on Park on December 18, 2025.

Co-Presidents Welcome 

  • Tracy Flater: All is Calm is sold out. 

Town Reports: 

Economic Development – Kristen Gorski / Lauren Siegel 

Town Update provided on behalf of Rick Ledwith who was unavailable today:

·       Tiffany McGuinness, town council member in attendance.  Council unanimously approved the town traffic safety proposal. Will be submitted to CT DOT and Federal DOT for approval, and will begin to seek proposals. Violations will incur town ordinance tickets not traffic tickets.

·       Red light camera program to be reviewed in Jan 2026, Speed Cameras expected to be implemented by July 2026.

18 Kane Street – All you can eat revolving sushi restaurant moving into Planet Fitness building.  Opening expected in May or June 2026.

Harvey’s Café & Market – 161 Oakwood – Rich Frank & Jason Maya are the new owners.  Will keep the name and branding, expand the smoothie menu. Open and operational now.

 175 Park – Burger Squad has called for final hood inspection. Likely to open in January

199 Oakwood Ave – purchased a few months ago by Dr. Michael Stokes – opening third branch of Rhode Island Sex Therapy. Property has been vacant for years.

74 Park – VC Property Group – permits received in June, now open. Provides gap funding for construction projects. Conduit to funding for business projects.

WH hosted the Gov, Lt Gov… new round of state-wide brownfield grants announced, including the former UConn site $6M brownfield clean up grant here in West Hartford.

The Jaden off New Park Avenue – former Gozzo Home & Remodeling location – former recipient of a brownfield grant.  New mixed use including 70 units, many affordable.

Police Department

  • Officer Eden and Sgt Hopkins – 3 toy drives and a book drive raised thousands of dollars.  Collections go to town social workers to be distributed, any extra will be donated to CCMC.

  • Elementary School safety program kicks off for the year in January. Officers will visit all schools in town.

  • Holiday stroll, extra patrols at West Farms, traffic division blitz days to pick up enforcement focused on pedestrian safety.

  • Chipotle on Corbin’s Corner had a viral social media incident suggesting there was an altercation.  Police are investigating.

  • Hall High School – never a credible threat, kudos to relationship with BOE and Schools, responding officers. 

  • Upcoming 3-year anniversary of pedestrian death in WH. Police will be announcing the

  • Tiffany thanked PD for support for Fire on Ice event. Very successful event.

Chamber of Commerce – Chris Conway

  • Holiday Stroll was a great success. Chamber helps coordinate, lead is from Center Business Assoc and Blue Back.

  • Future Proofing your Career with the Minority Business Development Council is now posted online.

  • Tonight is Chamber Holiday Party at Aviva Hamilton Heights. Celebration of the year, and philanthropic components. Toy Drive for Friends of Feeny, and Tea Cup auction benefiting grant fund for WHPS.

  • Jan 8 – AM Connections focused on finding local professional services

  • Jan 27 – Pond House Economic Development Luncheon

  • E&M is the only vendor approved to reach out to members for advertising. They handle the annual directory. No other business is authorized to contact members on behalf of the Chamber.

Chuck Coursey

  • May 31 – Chuck and town historian will be hosting a celebration of the history of AC Peterson.
