November Meeting Minutes

Call to order

A meeting of The Park Rd Association  was held at Playhouse on Park on November 20, 2025.

 

Co-Presidents Welcome 

Thank yous to Leah, Donna, Charmaine – clean up walk on Nov 1 had a great turnout. Vision Zero vests were on, and gathering at Salt + Lime was a success.

Request to record meetings via Zoom – impractical, but we will have one evening meeting per year.

No Holiday programming for this year, but will make an effort to have a street-wide charity drive or promotional calendar next year.

Playhouse is now the proud owner of the vacant ice cream factory upstairs.  Space will be used for teaching, storage, rehearsals.

Town Reports: 

Economic Development – Kristen Gorski / Lauren Siegel 

  • Shark Bite restaurant has closed.

    Harvey’s on Oakwood is under new, local, ownership.  Same offerings.

    Burger Squad is close to opening. Waiting to schedule a final inspection, expected early December.

    Revolving Sushi Bar has signed a lease for part of the Planet Fitness building.

    Outdoor dining period ended on Nov 15th, outdoor furniture should be put away.

    Properties at 90 Park Road are being renovated and  progress is looking good.

Town Manager - Rick Ledwith

  • New Town Council sworn in.  Sherri Cantor sworn in for another two years.

    Three new Democrats and three new Republicans. Top four vote getters in this election were all women.

    Dec 17 public hearing at 6:30 for Speed Enforcement Camera program.

    Dec 14 Fire on Ice in Town Hall lot.  Holiday Stroll in the Center on Dec 4.

Town Engineer: Park Rd Project

  • Greg Sommer, Jason McCabe from Engineering

    Expected to start construction in the Spring, with final paving in October 2026.

    Angled parking proposals were thoroughly vetted, and unfortunately will not be part of this renovation.

    Curb extensions at select intersections

    4 Raised crosswalkds with warning lights

    New decorative lighting Oakwood east to town line

    Business access will be maintained throughout.

    Most work will be conducted at intersections.  Between intersections, work is primarily just milling and paving, plus some curb and apron repairs.

    Milling and paving is typically quick, but will be the most disruptive portion of the project.

    Discussion on sizing of curb extensions at Oakwood, plans for snow removal and plowing, timing of milling/paving. 

Police Department

  • Concluded Citizen’s Academy with 12 new graduates.

    Toy & Book Drive - 3 Stuff a Cruiser events, including River Bend Bookshop on Tuesday, Dec 16.

    Updates on collaborations with Town Manager, Engineering, Bike Committee, various departments to make these projects successful, prevent crime, solve crime, and improve the community.

    We’re open 24/7/365! To protect and serve – the serve part is also 24/7.

    Request for small business training on general safety practices, de-escalation, etc. Offer two sessions in PD classroom space and Association can help get the word out.

Chamber of Commerce – Chris Conway

  • Business After Hours tonight sold out.

    Open networking at Luna Pizza at noon on 11/21.

    Holiday Stroll 12/4.  Three performance stages.

    Chamber 101 offering in December.

    Only suburban COC in CT that has a dedicated ethnic/racial minority owner committee.  Colorful Conversations offered monthly, recorded and available.

    12/8 holiday party at Aviva, including Toy Drive and auction to support Friends of Feeny.

    New Chamber employee: Jen. Broad background makes her uniquely qualified to work at the COC.
